How to care for your skin before & after treatment

Pre care (24-48 hours before appointment)

You will also receive a text or email with brief screening questions that we kindly ask you fill out before your appointment to ensure your injector can safely treat you.

Avoid alcohol & Nsaids (Aleve, ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, naproxen, aspirin)

Alcohol and Nsaids both contribute to blood thinning which can cause increased bleeding and bruising

Come with a clean makeup free face

Your injector will clean your face anyway prior to treatment so its better to have no makeup on at all

Avoid harsh skin care products, retinol, exfoliating the face for 24 hours

Can increase risk of complications and affect proper healing of the skin

Avoid excess caffeine day of appointment, drink plenty of water, and eat!

Excess caffeine can increase risk of bruising, bleeding, and swelling. Drinking plenty of water ensures your skin is in its best hydrated state to promote healing after treatment. Having a bite to eat always helps ease the nerves.

Your history & Meds

Filling out the pre appointment questionnaire that is sent to you helps your injector be able to review your chart prior to treatment to ensure that it is safe to treat. We will go over this in person as well. Please remember to inform of any allergies, medication changes (including antibiotics!), and other change in medical history. We want to make your experience is safe and seamless.

Post care

How to care for your skin after treatment

Avoid lying flat or bending over for 4-6 hours

Bending over or lying flat increases blood flow to the head. When we place botox strategically and then increase blood flow before it has settled into the muscle, it can increase risk of the neurotoxin spreading into areas that were not treated.

Tylenol not Ibuprofen

The post tox headache... this is normal. But we want to ensure that you take Tylenol (acetaminophen) to treat this, not ibuprofen or other nsaids as they thin the blood. This would increase risk of neurotoxin traveling, bleeding, bruising, and swelling.

No tight hats or headbands & No massaging the face

Wearing a hat or headband can affect the settle of your tox. Best to avoid for 24 hours.

If you use a facial brush or anything aggressive on the face - avoid this for 24 hours.

No sweating or sun exposure

When we treat your skin we interrupt the natural skin barrier to promote its healing and become stronger. It is best to be very careful in the sun to avoid excess burns of the skin while the barrier heals. Also, we do not want to use saunas, steam rooms, or do hot pilates to avoid excess sweating!

Your favorite workouts should wait at least 24 hours - your heart rate and blood pressure spiking can affect product placement.

As always, your treatment is individualized, so if you are unsure or have a question please reach out.
